We begin our sightseeing tour with a short drive to Pashupatinath Temple. Hereabouts, you can witness cremation rituals of Hindus at ‘Aryaghat’, the cremation area of the temple. Our next destination is Boudhanath - the largest stupa in Nepal and a centrepoint of Tibetan culture in Kathmandu. The stupa is designed in the shape of a giant mandala (assumed to be a representation of the Buddhist cosmos). Our next stop is Bhaktapur. Spread over an area of 6.88 sq km, 12 km south-east of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur Durbar Square or Bhadgaon showcases the ancient grandiose of the Golden Age of Nepali art and architecture. Built by King Anand Dev Malla in the 9th century, the city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. It has remained a model for heritage conservation since then. At the Bhaktapur Durbar Square, you will find many fine examples of sculpture, woodcarving and pagodas dedicated to different gods and goddesses – the Nyatapol & Dattaraya Temples, the Golden Gate, Palace of 55 windows that also has marks of bullet penetrations that tells a tragic tale of this once-upon-a-time independent kingdom. At dusk, we get set for a lovely scenic drive up to Nagarkot. Overnight at the tranquil hill resort of Nagarkot
Day 3: Drive back to Kathmandu via Patan durbar square
We get a wakeup call with a few cuppers at early dawn for some phenomenal views of a spectacular sunrise where we witness nature at its best; this heavenly sight of sunrise rejuvenates our senses and stirs our emotions. We later return to our hotel for a warm delicious breakfast and then spend the rest of our day amidst the natural surroundings of Nagarkot. After digesting the charming landscapes and peace of Nagarkot we will drive back to Katmandu via Patan Durbar Square (the medieval palace, the famous shikhara style Krishna temple with 21 golden pinnacles, the Hiranya Varna golden temple, the Shikhara Style Mahabouddha temple- 13thcentury AD). Lasting memory
It was a great moment with my children and grandchildren at Ama Ghar . They liked all the children there and got along so well ...even my twenty months old grandson Zachary Lakshan got friendly with the children there. All this would not have come true if not for our wonderful Manju. Oh, she was so helpful. Meeting my adopted son Ajaya at Ama Ghar was a dream come true. We planted a mango tree there and named it "Venkatesh". Thank you Incentive Holidays!
